Grays Harbor Community Hospital Re-Opens Central Sterile with Updated Equipment

(May 11, 2017 – Aberdeen, Washington) – GHCH is pleased to announce the addition of a new autoclave (steam sterilizer) that will bring a heightened level of efficiency to the Central Sterile (CS) department. The new autoclave helps to hasten the return of instruments to all levels of the hospital and provides the physicians with sterilized equipment. Surgeons are working around the clock in the hospital and sometimes require multiple sterilizations within the same day. By utilizing two units, we can better meet the needs of the doctors and in turn, provide excellent care to our patients.

Additionally, CS was asked to rearrange their department so as to accommodate the new machinery. By working closely with the engineering department and thinking creatively, CS was able to determine the best placement and most efficient use of space for a better work flow.

“We love the new changes, and are very grateful to Kevin Webber and the engineering department for their efforts, “ said Midge Gamboa, Lead, Central Sterile. “This was a fantastic addition to our department and will provide more efficiency when serving our providers and patients.”

A ceremony and ribbon cutting took place in the Central Sterile Department and they are excited to share their new equipment with the hospital.
