An election night count has resulted in the passing of the formation of Public Hospital District #2. Of the 9,620 votes counted, 6,142 were Yes votes. Official final tallies will be announced on August 19th.
A message from Grays Harbor Community Hospital CEO:
For nearly two and a half years we have been working diligently to write a law and have it passed before the Legislature that better compensates our organization for the State's Medicaid patients. At the last minute, the Legislature amended the Bill to state that we must be a Public Hospital District to qualify for the enhanced reimbursement. We have feverishly worked to accomplish this goal.
Tonight our Community voted YES to the formation of Public Hospital District #2, which qualifies us for enhanced reimbursement, in turn maintaining quality healthcare in Grays Harbor. We will have a meeting of the new District Commissioners in the next three weeks and will spend the remainder of 2014 building the structure for the new Public Hospital District.
This has not been a simple process; however, we have been supported by many volunteers, employees, physicians and Board members, including the PHD Steering Committee who guided us through the campaign and toward our community voting yes! We are very thankful for all of your hard work and dedication to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. We appreciate that our State Legislators worked to assist us in continuing to support our mission to, "Heal, comfort and serve our community with compassion."
The current Board of Directors will remain in place until the end of the year, except for those members who have been elected as a District Commissioner. At that same time, we will transition assets to the District. Our enhanced benefits from the State will begin January 1st
Thank you all again for your support throughout this campaign, we will move forward together—it's our Hospital.
